STEVE SHANAHAN and THE HITMEN
Traditional electric blues and then some
Concert - $20 online advance / $25 door
Kitchen and Happy Hour!- 6pm, Showtime - 8pm
Online advance ticket sales close at 5pm day of show
Born and raised in greater-Philadelphia area, Steve Shanahan, started his musical journey with guitar at the conservatory level at the age of eleven...Through the years, Steve has honed his craft listening to and emulating his musical influences including BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Duane Allman, Roy Buchanan and more.
After his graduation from the University of Delaware, Steve became a family man and then returned to music playing local jams, blues clubs and performing in Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Kansas. After a ten-year relationship with Mikey Jr. that evolved from the local jam and performance venues, the next logical step was to produce Steve’s inaugural release, Blue Ranchero, on 8th Train Records. Steve’s guitar tone and playing have an authentic sound which is true to the blues and a tribute to the players he has emulated over the past 50 years. “Blue Ranchero”, an original instrumental by Steve, is the title track on the record and evokes the magic of electric guitar and the feel of speed common to the muscle-car years of the 1960s. His slow blues ballads exude the richness of the original vocal versions while up-tempo shuffles and standards are filled with tuneful guitar, harp, piano and saxophone solos. Steve’s goal in his live performances is to pay homage to the originators of the form while informing his audiences with the history and the connections between artists from one generation to the next that keep our Blues alive and ever evolving January 2024
The blues greatest songwriter Willie Dixon proclaimed “The blues are the roots of all American music. As long as American music survives so will the blues.” The 14 tunes on guitarist/vocalist Steve Shanahan's auspicious debut are a testament to Dixon's quote and exemplify the continuity and adaptability of the blues. A Philadelphia area native and University of Delaware graduate, Shanahan has played guitar since he was five and along the way developed a love for blues and American music. He's been friends with producer/harmonica ace Mikey Junior for ten years. Shanahan is a frequent visitor to Mikey Junior's Sunday blues jam at the Twisted Tail in Philly which ultimately led to their collaboration here. Mikey Junior's regular band of guitarist Matt Daniels, bassist Jimmy Pritchard, and drummer Scott Stump are augmented by tenor saxophonist Steve Kirsty and keyboardist Judd Nielsen on the 12 covers and two original instrumentals (Shanahan's “Blue Ranchero,” a slashing ode to his beloved Blue Ranchero, Ford's precursor to Chevy's El Camino, and Mikey Junior's loping “Speedway Shuffle” featuring muscular harp evocative of Little Walter). Half of the covers come from the crème de la crème of Chicago blues legends (Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Elmore James, Sonny Boy Williamson II and Little Walter) Texas, California, West Coast, and the Delta are also covered. The lone contemporary track is Keb Mo's “Dangerous Mood.” The opening track “Train Kept A-Rollin'” further underscores Dixon's quote. Originally a R and B hit from 1951 for jump blues maestro Tiny Bradshaw, then a hit for rockabilly progenitors Johnny Burnette and the Rockabilly Trio, then further popularized by the Yardbirds and Aerosmith, and now by Steve Shanahan. Thomas J. Cullen III, Bucks County Blues Society and Blues Music Magazine
Blue Ranchero is available on all digital platforms, CD at show, and is supporting Steve’s live show, “100 Years of the Blues”. The “100 Years” show explores the impact of blues music through performances of some of the most well-known blues, r and b, and rock artists/labels of the 20th Century such as Muddy Waters, BB King, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, MOTOWN, Stevie Ray Vaughan and more. The live performance features The Hit Men consisting of: Philadelphia Journeyman vocalist and keyboardist Joe Mass, drummer Eric Scatteregia and bassist Dave Giorgio.

DOCTOR HARMONICA AND ROCKETT 88
One of the storied masters and his incredible band
Concert - $25 online advance / $30 door
Kitchen and Happy Hour!- 6pm, Showtime - 8pm
Online advance ticket sales close at 5pm day of show
The Wilmington Delaware music scene flourished in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s. Bands that made the rounds in northern Delaware and beyond included favorites such as the Melton Brothers, Sin City Band, Johnny Neel and the Shapes of Soul, the Watson Brothers, The Bullets, Tommy Conwell and his Young Rumblers, Lisa Jack, The Drinkers, Larry Tucker Band, Rockett 88, and the big dog in the neighborhood, George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers. ...It’s a time Mark Kenneally remembers fondly, mainly because he was one of the stars of that music scene, or at least his alter ego was — Dr. Harmonica.
Kenneally is the front man and lead singer — and harmonica virtuoso — for Rockett 88, a band that has been around since the late 1970s and was inducted into the Delaware Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
Dr. Harmonica is now in his mid-70s, but he’s still chugging along, albeit more slowly than he did in his prime. That physical decline really began four years ago, when he was injured while rescuing his dog from traffic. Kenneally fell and tore both of the quad muscles in his legs and he’s still unable to walk without assistance, even though the injury was repaired using transplanted muscle from a cadaver.
“I’m doing all right, but I’m really not happy with my progress,” Kenneally says. “I’m doing much better than I was after it first happened, and therapy has really helped and continues to help. But it was a devastating injury — I could hear the muscles snap when it happened.
“So, it’s been a long road and it’s still a long road. I’m just trying to do the best I can with what I have to work with.”
Also, Kenneally was born with cerebral palsy, a disability he learned to cope with a long time ago and which, indirectly, led him to the harmonica. His condition prevented him from playing most team sports when he grew up in the Brandywine Hundred neighborhood of Devon in the 1960s, although he played rugby for a while. So, he turned his focus to cars and music, and even his music choices were limited because of his cerebral palsy. He tried the trumpet and trombone, but they didn’t excite him.
A harmonica was handed to Kenneally at 13. The rest is history.
Then one day, when he was 13, a friend stopped by his house and handed him a couple of harmonicas. And from there Mark Kenneally eventually morphed into Dr. Harmonica.
It didn’t hurt that one of Kenneally’s best friends was George Thorogood, who was in his class at Brandywine High in the late 1960s. Thorogood’s star hadn’t started to rise yet. In fact, Kenneally says that when he first started playing with Thorogood he didn’t even play guitar — he was the band’s singer.
Later, Kenneally joined Rockett 88, whose lead guitarist at the time was Tommy Conwell before he became a Young Rumbler. Rockett 88 was just one of many great local bands at the time, and Kenneally says he played with just about all of those musicians at one time or another, including the late Johnny Neel, who went on to greater fame as a member of the Allman Brothers Band.
“I actually got to make a living doing it, so I got to do what I love and I never got up before noon,” Kenneally says. “I didn’t care who I was playing with or where we were playing. All I wanted to do was play music with like-minded people, and there were a lot of them around here back then. We were all into the music.”
And music has helped him deal with the many crosses he’s had to bear over the years. Because of his physical limitations, Rockett 88 only plays a couple of times a month, but even that bare-bones schedule has been great mental and emotional therapy for him, even though it can be physically demanding
“It gives me something to focus on besides my problems,” he says. “I still love it, even though I don’t enjoy it as much as I did when I could jump around and be much more animated. But playing, and practicing to get ready to play, gives me a goal, something to shoot for, something to look forward to. And we’re getting great crowds whenever we play, and that helps my outlook, too.”
Those crowds don’t see the hyperactive Dr. Harmonica of the old days, but he still gets the people on their feet and dancing.
“What I love about Mark the most is his enthusiasm, and that hasn’t changed at all,” says Paula Wolkind, who, along with her husband George Wolkind, founded the Delaware Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
“He doesn’t just play — he puts on a show, and the crowd really responds to him,” Paula Wolkind says. “Some people are natural entertainers, natural showmen, and that certainly describes Mark.”
George Wolkind certainly knows rock and roll, especially the local variety — he was the lead singer for the popular band Snakegrinder in the early 1970s. He and his wife decided that the music scene in Delaware needed to be recognized, and that led to the creation of the Delaware Rock and Roll Society (which begat the Delaware Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) in 2018, and recently the organization found a permanent home in the Smyrna Opera House.
And there was never a doubt that Dr. Harmonica and Rockett 88 would be among the first bands to be inducted.
“Mark loves music and he loves sharing that music with the crowd,” George Wolkind says. “People sense that and they send that energy back to the band. That’s the beauty of live music, and nobody brings that energy like Mark, even with all the hardships he’s had to deal with.”
Other members of the ever-evolving Rockett 88 include Alan Yandziak on tenor saxophone, Quentin Jones on guitar, Danny Bendig on drums and Patrick Redding on bass. Jeff Simon occasionally sits in on drums when he’s not touring with Thorogood. And adding something extra to the mix for Rockett 88 is new guitarist Nick Kane, who played with the Mavericks from 1993-2000 and was part of that internationally-known band when it was nominated for five Grammy Awards and won once.
Rockett 88 has cut back on its performing schedule and they rarely play in Delaware anymore. They do show up at the St. George’s Country Store on occasion — they last played there in March. Kenneally said his band mostly plays in the Lancaster, Pa., area.
“For some reason, there’s a big music scene up there,’ he says.
It’s been a long time since Dr. Harmonica wailed at the Barn Door in Wilmington or the Blue Boar Inn in Arden, or George Thorogood walked along the top of the bar while playing his guitar at the Buggy Tavern in Brandywine Hundred (none of those venues exist anymore).
Kenneally, who now lives in Milford, holds onto those memories even while crafting new ones as an elder statesman of rock and roll in Delaware. He makes the best of his current circumstances, even though he’s had to sacrifice because of them — Thorogood has played in our area just twice in recent years and both times he asked Kenneally to join him on stage, but Dr. Harmonica had to decline because of his health.
But even though the flesh is weak, the spirit continues to boogie.
“I’ve had it tough, but a lot of people have a lot tougher than me, and I always try to remember that,” Kenneally says. “And I have something most people don’t have — my music.”

Wonder House is a Philly-based original band formed in 2021. The group started as a collaboration between songwriters John Luther, who fronted the successful band Hot House Orchids in Phoenix, AZ and moved to Philadelphia in 2020, and Topher Horner, a longtime veteran of the Philadelphia area music scene (April Mae and the June Bugs, The Knife and Fork Band, The Low Road, and Go To Blazes among others)....Wonder House music is built on a solid foundation of Jon Kelsey’s drums (as heard in the Manayunk Homeboys The Knife and Fork Band, and The Rolling Hayseeds) and Topher’s upright bass. A three-prong guitar approach from Mark Tucker (John Train, The Donuts, The Rolling Hayseeds), Matt Voelker, and Chris Hoxie provide depth and intricacy, intertwining with John’s integral keyboards. Mark also brings his excellent steel guitar and keyboard playing into the mix. John is an engaging front man with a powerful voice and a lot of energy. Chris, Topher, and Julie Whitaker add strong vocal harmonies.
Wonder House plays original music with a wide range of influences, including Rock, Folk, Funk, Blues, Americana, Jazz, and Pop. Wonder House songs explore memories of good times and hard times, hopefulness of the way things could be and acceptance of things as they are, and celebrations of being in the moment, enjoying uplifting music with good friends.
The Donuts, Philadelphia’s premier pub rock outfit, formed in 2001 after meeting at an AC/DC show. They have since released six critically acclaimed albums and shared stages with Richard Lloyd (ex-Television), the Plimsouls, Vashti Bunyan, the Flamin’ Groovies, and many more. In 2018, they performed Rockpile’s legendary Seconds of Pleasure lp in its entirety, and since then have composed answer songs to the Rockpile originals, calling the project The Pleasure of Seconds, scheduled for release in long-playing form in 2026 on Chapter 7 Records. The Donuts were recently called “a band to watch” in Playgirl magazine and are presently in the midst of their Farewell, USA FY26 World Tour™.

THE KENNEDYS Rockin' Holiday Show!
Concert - $25 online advance / $30 door
Kitchen and Happy Hour!- 6pm, Showtime - 8pm
Online advance ticket sales close at 5pm day of show
If there is any band that is dear to our hearts, like family really, it is the Kennedys...
Pete and Maura have lived lifetimes together in their illustrious 30 year history as a husband and wife musical duo. They have seen highs and lows and together and have not only endured, but triumphed. As you can imagine, they have so very much to share and celebrate, not least of which is their brand new 17th album "HEADWINDS". They return to Jamey's for the holidays, a place where they played many times as guests of the great folk DJ, Gene Shay. We hope you can join us for a Rockin' Holiday Show like no other!
Songwriting duo Pete and Maura Kennedy make a strong return to the studio and stage after three years of weekly live-streamed lockdown-era concerts. They took the opportunity to explore classic songwriting in depth, performing over a thousand songs during the pandemic. That vast overview strengthened and refined their own writing and laid the foundation for this new collection of original, socially-conscious songs.
“After such a deep dive into American roots music, we felt like we had a new set of writing tools. We were ready to create this body of work, and there’s just SO much to write about,” says Maura. “During our five-year hiatus from writing and recording, America changed in massive ways, divisive ways that have shaken our whole foundation. That has to be addressed by creative artists, those of us who have a voice to speak for others. Our love of the great things about this country, things that are under threat, is the reason we decided to make “Headwinds” the title track of the CD. Political and social headwinds are making it hard to get back “home’ to our greatness as a nation. We want to push back in a positive way against those winds.”
In addition to singing and writing, Pete and Maura are multi-instrumentalists. The thirteen songs are cast in a soundscape that draws from the classic canon of American roots, in keeping with the theme of getting back “home” as a nation. Acoustic and electric guitars, a vintage steel guitar, a gospel-inflected piano/organ mix, and even a slide ukulele all add colors to a songbag of sounds that have drawn us together during hard times. Pete and Maura believe that those sounds still have the power to pull us through again.
The Kennedys began their writing and touring life three decades ago as members of Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra, developing their own sound as a frequent support act on Nanci’s tours across America, Ireland, Scotland and England. Collaborations with Nanci continued, culminating in Pete and Maura producing her final album, “Intersections.” Along the way, they hosted a nationwide radio program, “The Dharma Cafe” on Sirius/XM, wrote and released sixteen CDs of original music, and have been core artists on folk radio, expanding their audience further with the inception of the AAA and Americana formats.

Singer-songwriter Kate Gaffney honed her skills in her native Philadelphia, jumped from coast to coast, and laid musical roots in Northern California. Pennsylvania has since called her back home....Kate has been a blur of creativity since coming home, with becoming a Philadelphia Folksong Society board member, joining the fabulous Philly Blues Kings, performing at numerous venues, running an open-mic at Poppy's Tavern, and now launching Kate Gaffney's Corner every second Thursday at Jamey's to feature her own great body of work, welcome guest artists from Philly's vibrant music community, and host an open-mic on many nights.
Jason Ager is a dedicated father, a passionate college professor, and a hyper-literate original songwriter. Balancing a PhD in German Literature with a few days a week as a stay-at-home dad, Jason still plays more than 100 shows a year in the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. On his third album, Porchlight, Ager’s talent as a storyteller shines as he weaves together the academic and the arcane into clever lyrics that reward the careful listener. Nestled comfortably atop classic soul, RandB, and rock influences, songs like “Overload” and “Everybody Needs Love” epitomize Jason’s ability to rouse hearts and minds in the same breath.
“There’s something about Kate…something a little 80’s, a little 90’s, with a touch of the modern day, all steeped in the Summer of Love. You get a feeling, when you listen to Kate, that she understands the blues, but serves as a muse to keep the blues away. She’s a songwriter who songwriters write songs about. Watching her perform is somehow comforting and her honest vulnerability lends a welcome tone to her concerts. She has found a nice rapport with her audience and is one of the few performers with whom I welcome the banter. Kate is both disarming and razor sharp at the same time.” - Aaron Redner, musician/writer
Singer-songwriter Kate Gaffney honed her skills in her native Philadelphia, jumped from coast to coast and toured everywhere in between. She laid musical roots in Northern California, building a loyal following in Sacramento and within the San Francisco Bay Area music community. Pennsylvania has since called her back home. Gaffney’s festival nods include Philadelphia Folk Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and Hangtown Music Festival. She has opened for a variety of touring acts including Richie Havens, Todd Snider, Xavier Rudd, Chris Smither, Carolyn Wonderland, Jackie Greene, Karl Denson, Kaki King, Elephant Revival, and Dead Winter Carpenters. Kate Gaffney has released four albums: Highways, The New Then, The Coachman, Here by the Ocean.

““Imagine you're making a list of today’s top female blues/rock guitarists. No doubt you'll include Bonnie Raitt, Samantha Fish, Susan Tedeschi, Ana Popovic. If you don’t include Debra Devi, your list is not complete.”
— American Blues Scene..."Debra leads “a ferocious guitar-driven band equally adept at sprawling psychedelic jams and terse soulful rockers.” (NY Music Daily). Her core band is Kevin Jones on bass and John Roccesano on drums, plus a rotating crew of gifted keyboardists, including Rob Clores (Jesse Malin), Andy Burton (LIttle Steven, Cyndi Lauper) and Matt Wade (Samantha Fish).
Debra's growing acclaim as "one of the most remarkable guitarists on the East Coast." (Good Times) has led to festival dates from Memphis to Montana. She endorses Homestead Amplifiers, which builds custom amps for Gov’t Mule, Gary Clark Jr. and Jimmy Herring. She's opened for Joan Osborne, Jesse Malin, Ana Popovic, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, Joe Louis Walker and Marshall Crenshaw.
Debra's passion for the blues led her to write The Language of the Blues: From Alcorub to Zuzu (foreword by Dr. John) which won the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for Outstanding Book on Music. The book is blurbed by Bonnie Raitt, Joe Bonamassa, Hal Willner, Bob Margolin and Jimmy Vivino. Debra gives her “Language of the Blues” talk at colleges, clubs and festivals.
Debra fell in love with electric guitar as a girl, listening to her teenage neighbor play Led Zeppelin while he worked on his car, and her brother’s rock albums. “I always sang the guitar solos, instead of the lyrics,” she says. Growing up in that Milwaukee suburb, though, she got the message that only boys played in bands.
When she saw Bonnie Raitt perform in college, Debra couldn’t stifle her longing to play anymore. She bought a Fender Mustang at a pawnshop and moved to NYC. She joined various punk, industrial and rock bands, touring the US, Canada and Europe.
As a solo artist, Debra created a classic blues/rock sound that enables her to indulge her love of the guitar. “I think people are starved for real, live music – to experience that spontaneous magic,” Debra says. “I hope to deliver that magic with every record and performance.”

Concert - $20 online advance / $25 door
Kitchen and Happy Hour!- 6pm, Showtime - 8pm

Jazz-Folk vocalist Jean Lenke paints scenery & emotion through song, approaching her canvas with broad strokes and a free hand....Having launched her musical career late in life, her music is influenced by an eclectic mix of genres that span generations. Jean has recently made her home in the Pacific Northwest, on the Olympic Peninsula. Through her music she celebrates all the shades and hues life brings us here, feelings, beautifully expressed and set free!
As a performing artist, composer, lyricist, and bandleader she brings the joy of her parent’s music of the 1940’s together with the spirit of the Folk-Rock and Jazz-Rock Fusion soundtrack of her own youth in an eclectic mix ~ familiar, yet slightly off center, with haunting appeal.
Artfully blending the magic of the past with the energy of the future Jean's delivery is transportive, melting hearts with her a crystal clear tone and sultry warmth.
“I started my musical career late in life, so there’s never been any time to waste! My love of music had always been there - I just needed to tap into my own voice. Over the past 15 years I’ve learned that it’s never too late to recreate yourself."
Jean Lenke's debut album, Restless!, released in 2019, is as diverse as Jean is and highlights her musical creativity brilliantly! Restless! includes covers and original material by Jean, Philadelphia songwriters James Soloman, Danie Ocean and Canadian David R. Miller. Fresh lyrics to classic instrumental standards and new interpretations of Joni Mitchel and Steely Dan favorites round out the project brilliantly!
"Everything I know about music, I learned in Philadelphia. Philly tough me to sing, to write, and to fly free. When I realized I as moving west to Seattle, I knew I had to record my musical experiences before I left. Sometimes you just need to get off the couch and go for it! Whatever is pulling you forward, don’t settle. Give in to your own restlessness. Be brave! Just go for it and see where things land! You'll never regret it.” ~ Jean Lenke

THE DIRK QUINN BAND
Jazz funk extraordinaire
Concert - $20 online advance / $25 door
Kitchen and Happy Hour!- 6pm, Showtime - 8pm
Online advance ticket sales close at 5pm day of show
Dirk Quinn is the guitarist for a high energy funk/jazz band based out of Philadelphia that travels extensively throughout the US and Canada. Utilizing over a decade of steady performing, Quinn has developed a unique and progressive style - one that appeals to a wide variety of music listeners with fans ranging from the jam band hippies to the jazz snobs....Initially attracted to the guitar as a teenager after being introduced to classic rock giants such as Led
Zeppelin and The Beatles, Quinn’s thirst for the unique and bizarre soon had him jamming along to the
more radical and daring Mahavishnu Orchestra and the humorous, bass-laden noise of Primus. Playing
virtually non-stop with countless musical projects afforded him ample opportunity to hone his chops. It
wouldn’t be long before the refining of his own artistic message coupled with a fresh, new outlook and a
deeper musical/life philosophy opened up to him the world of jazz. Miles, Coltrane, Monk and Brubeck
along with the more contemporary sounds of Bela Fleck, John Scofield, Ahmad Jamal and Jaco Pastorius
began heavily influencing his musical direction. Liberated by the idea of free improvisation, he was finally
able to realize and focus his musical vision.
In 2007 Quinn made his long-awaited recording debut releasing his self-titled CD - "Dirk Quinn". Working
the club and coffee house circuit, Quinn became increasingly in demand, playing as many as three gigs a
day while getting the occasional call to share the stage with musical legends such as Steve Kimock,
Bernie Worell, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Alan Evans (Soulive), Keller Williams, Garaj Mahal, Booker
T, Jimmy Bruno, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Kofi Burbridge (Derek Trucks Band), Marco Benevento,
Zach Deputy, Jim Weider (The Band), Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Rodney Holmes
(Santana), "DreamWeaver" Gary Wright, and Sam Kininger (Soulive) - each performance steadily
garnering more recognition for Quinn, who believes in winning fans one by one on the merit of the music.
"QuinnTet", his sophomore CD release, features “thoughtful, original melodies flowing seamlessly over
groove-heavy rhythms; intricate song structures giving way to strongly expressive, organic
improvisations.” Drawing inspiration from every musical genre, his solo acoustic sound has been
compared to the guitar “pyrotechnics” of Keller Williams and Michael Hedges, while his full band
compositions bear resemblances that range from the honest, urban funk of Soulive to the brave
experimentation of Medeski, Martin and Wood.
Surrounding himself with a group of extremely talented and like-minded musicians, Quinn has been
playing shows across North America while receiving an ever increasing amount of media attention. His
music has now been featured on over 100+ radio stations worldwide and gets regular airplay in his
hometown of Philadelphia. Notable spins include the "Pick of the Day" on WXPN in Philadelphia as well
as on the nationally syndicated "Keller's Cellar" broadcast hosted by Keller Williams.
The Dirk Quinn Band released "Live at Home" in January of 2012. Featuring tracks recorded over 5
different shows in and around their hometown of Philadelphia, the new CD runs the gamut from beautiful
and delicate movements to evil dissonance; from intricate and thought provoking melodies to hard driving
funk and is a fantastic representation of the group's live show experience.
The band’s infectious energy and musical interplay routinely attract listeners that are admittedly more
accustomed to lyric-based music. With great melodic sensibilities, rhythmic experimentation and an
accessible modern edge, the Dirk Quinn Band is jazz/funk improvisation at its most exciting!

The Philly Blues Kings has been around for a minute. This band represents the best that the contemporary blues has to offer....The lineup is fronted by internationally acclaimed Nola Blue recording artist Clarence Spady on guitar and vocals and backed by Mr. Saxman Frank McKitty on tenor, Hammond ace Joey Stout at the Hammond organ, piano and vocals, and driven by the powerful rhythm team of Jamey Reilly on bass and Paul Albrecht on drums. Our newest member, Kate Gaffney, is a stunning alto singer/guitarist with a national presence on the singer-songwriter circuit. She has released several acclaimed albums and has toured widely across the USA. She is a fearless performer who has embraced the blues with passion and brings a whole new polished feel to the raw edginess of the Kings.
Musically, they are first rate, combining the powerful impact of electric blues with skilled musicianship and stellar vocals. Their sets feature a mix of beloved standards, modern covers, originals and obscure relics that only a music historian would recognize. True to their music-first ethos, the group eschews fame and fortune, and indeed has never even recorded an album together. These performers love the blues - and love to play!
Like so many other blues artists before them, you need to go hear them live if you want to hear them at all. You can find them performing for their loyal fans every 1st, 4th and 5th Sunday at their home base, Jamey's House of Music, where they are the house band. The Sunday Blues Brunch is a Philly institution and features local, national and international blues artists and guests who jam at the club.
Philadelphia has long been known for "The Philly Sound" with numerous world beating soul and RandB groups, as well as being a nexus for top jazz and blues artists and a strong supporting community. The Philly Blues Kings is honored to take its place alongside these giants, and contribute "The PBK Sound" to the world of blues!

"...If you've never been to Jamey's - it's like you died and went to heaven, the venue is state-of-the-art and puts other music venues to shame, the food, craft ales and wine menus are incredible and the staff and crew are all amazing. AND - if (for some sad reason) you can't get there - Jamey's live-stream their concerts ..the legendary Jamey Reilly, emperor of the hippest music venue in the multiverse..."
"We can't wait until you have your venue up and running again!! It's recognized as one of the top small venues in the region, if not in the entire country!!"

"Home. It's doesn't get any warmer than being in Jamey's House!"
"We've played every kind of venue imaginable on several world tours, and I have to tell you that this is probably the best venue we have ever played. It's simply brilliant. Thank you for everything done to perfection."
"What an amazing room! A friend asked me today what I thought of the room and without hesitation I said it was in the top five I’ve ever done. It was more than just the great sound, stage and set up. It was clear to me that there was such respect for the musician from the moment I walked in."
"Jamey Reilly couldn't possibly have created a finer oasis for musicians to perform. It's really a gem. SERIOUSLY! Everybody try and get a date there!!! (Just leave some room for us because we're definitely going back!!!)"
"Amazing! A hidden, intimate live music venue with impeccable sound. Sat at long tables next to total strangers and it felt like being with family. Delicious food (and great craft beer the night I was there). It’s rare to find a venue owner who cares this passionately about the music! Two big thumbs up."
"Last night we debuted at Jamey Reilly's Jamey’s House of Music. Jamey has outdone himself. He has an incredible backline, and the sound, which he engineers is exquisite. Working with Jamey helps make performing seamless. He knows what he is doing and is an excellent communicator. He is also a musician, which helps a great deal (the man has ears). The food at this venue is incredible. The flavor-I can’t begin to find the words to express how excellent it is. If you have not been to Jamey’s House of Music, get down there, catch a show. Get there early and enjoy the amazing cuisine. It will blow your mind."
"This small room is by far the best sounding music venue I've ever experienced. It's a truly exceptional labor of love..."
"Not enough room here to tell you how fabulous this venue is—music, people, food, on-tap beer, and staff are all top drawer! Prices are fantastic! The photos are shrimp over grits and a fabulous vegan burger with vegan bacon!"
"THE place to Jam!!! Jamey is the man, the myth, the legend. Great equipment & exceptional drum set."
"Jamey's is the BEST. People who never heard of the band will show up to listen, because they KNOW Jamey books the official bands, has the great food, great sound, great atmosphere...and now great craft beer. WORLD CLASS JOINT, yo!"
"I tell everyone about Jamey and Jamey's House of Music. Everyone in Nashville knows about this place. I play some of the best rooms in the world, like the Bluebird, Douglas Corner, Third and Lindsley, places with great sound systems, and nothing beats the sound in this room. ...This is my favorite place to play in the whole world."
"The sound is absolutely perfect. I could hear every note of every instrument. Just incredible."
"Great pro sound, fantastic food, great beer and an owner that is a super nice human!!!"
"Congratulations to the incredible Jamey Reilly for spending this (COVID shutdown) time improving facilities at the already fabulous Jamey's House of Music, the best music venue in the Philadelphia area."
I'm a "venue snob" and this place is AWESOME ! Cozy, intimate, acoustically A+, comfy seating, bathroom is spotless, people are warm & friendly ... can't wait to return !
"... a dream performance space. Perfect acoustics, top quality production values, a visually lovely setting, and an overall aesthetic ambience that, like a tea ceremony, lifts every gesture to it's highest level. It's perfection, both for the audience and the performers."
"Intimate music venue with great artists. Offers several craft beers on tap— a full bar bar with Pennsylvania spirits and cider is soon to come. The excellent food and friendly service are an added delight. Highly recommend Jamey’s for an enjoyable evening of music and dinner at a reasonable price. Also very gluten friendly."
"And a special thanks to Jamey Reilly for his hospitality and for providing what is surely one of the greatest listening rooms in the country!"
Says John Nemeth and the Blue Dreamers: "Lansdowne is hands down - number 1!"
This wonderful Man, known to many of you bc he is Jamey Reilly who owns and runs Jamey's House of Music. Jamey did an amazing thing for me. I was shooting one night at his place and he asked to see me...I came back to him and here he was holding up a little button and said to me, "Do you know what this is?" Noooo I siad, "It's the Liza button!" He said, and pointed it at the stage and clicked the button and the stage lights all changed to exactly the kind of light I like to shoot with! I couldn't believe it! Jamey Reilly, you are SUCH a class act. I wish all venue owners were like you.
THANK YOU!!!
"Totally going again soon! A++++++!!!"
"I can't even explain how delicious everything was."
"One word. ..incredible!"
"Awesome food..."
